Kate Mulgrew made an appearance at the Eletronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles
today to promote the "Voyager Elite Force" game. The E3.Stomped.com website
interviewed the actress about the first Voyager computer game and her final year
on the show.
Stomped : Is today the first time you have seen the game in action?
Mulgrew : This is the first time, yes.
Stomped : What do you think ?
Mulgrew : I think it's splendid. I think it really does great justice not only
to Voyager but to Star Trek. It is exactly thematically correct.
Stomped : You are also doing the voice of your character in the game. What is
like doing the voice as opposed to playing your character on stage ?
Mulgrew : Strangely enough, it's very liberating. I don't have the camera to
worry about, so there is none of that. It's relaxing and a lot of fun.
Stomped : Is this a game that you would buy for yourself and your children ?
Mulgrew : It is a game that I would strongly urge my children and all of their
friends to buy.
Stomped : Is it possible that you might set up this game at the Paramount lot
and play a multiplayer game with your fellow cast members ?
Mulgrew : (laughs) I don't know. Possible, but improbable.
Stomped : Next year is your final year on Voyager. What are your feelings about that?
Mulgrew : It's sad. There is a great poignancy to it. I've been with these
people for six years, and finally, ultimately, of course, it will be seven.
There is a heartbreaking quotient to it. But all good things must come to an end and it's time.
Stomped : Some Star Trek actors have been worried about being typecast into
their roles after they leave the shows. What are your feelings about it ?
Mulgrew : I don't worry about that. I think playing Kathryn Janeway can only
enhance my career which was in place before i had this job.
