After our previous headline about Foundation Imaging's reworking and upgrading the FX for the 'Star Trek The Motion Picture" DVD, once again TrekWeb brings to you more photos and exclusive info on those missing scenes, which are being re-cut by director Robert Wise. Our thanks to Cinepixel, who scanned the images for us exclusively.
First we give you more photos of the 'Memory Wall' scene, this time going behind-the-scenes on the filming of this rather elaborate sequence, whose effects will be redone by Foundation. In the below photos, you can see Robert Wise directing William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy on the huge set, plus a surprise visit of actor Clint Eastwood and his family. Then you can seen more detailed images of Kirk and Spock spacewalk, as they approach the 'Memory Wall'. There, Spock performs a mind-meld with V'Ger's database library. The vulcan screams in pain, only to be saved by Kirk.
Another never before seen scene : during her tour of the Enterprise with Will Decker, the Ilia-probe confronts Mr. Scotty at Enginnering, annoying the chief-engineer with her comments about the ship's inferior tecnology.
Here we see a never used FX shot of Starfleet Command Headquarters in San Francisco. Foundation will be redoing some of the matte paintings for these early scenes (including Admiral Kirk's meeting with Admiral Nogura, as we revealed before).
