TrekWeb has learned that the previously reported 'Star Trek: Voyager' retrospective special featuring clips from the show's seven seasons, interviews from the cast, behind the scenes personnel, and other special clips has been cancelled by UPN. Our source(s) has informed TrekWeb that the network bailed after learning of the expense to assemble the show. The special had been announced in the trades and was set to debut the Tuesday night before the final episode of 'Voyager' airs.
Though the other 'Trek' series each had their sort of farewell specials, it appears that 'Voyager' will not receive the same treatment due to internal decisions at UPN and Paramount Television.
TrekWeb suggests that if you would like to see this retrospective special or at least something in its spirit to be completed to celebrate the end of the fourth 'Star Trek' series this May, let your voice be known to UPN and Paramount Television.
You can call UPN at (310) 575-7000 or write to Paramount Television Chairman Kerry McCluggage, President of Paramount Network Television Gary Hart, or Executive Vice President of Creative Affairs Tom Mazza at:
Paramount Pictures
5555 Melrose Ave.
LA, 90038
You can email President and CEO of UPN Dean Valentine at dean_valentine@upn.com, Kerry McCluggage at kerry_mccluggage@paramount.com or President of Entertainment at UPN Tom Nunan at tom_nunan@upn.com.
Email is the easiest way to let your voice be heard. Please be appropriate in your correspondance.
Good luck!
