TrekWeb has received the report that Fandom.com, which owns both Cinescape and Creation Entertainment -- the convention company behind this weekend's Pasadena, CA Grand Slam convention -- may be close to filing for bankruptcy. TrekWeb has confirmed the entertainment company's status with various sources, which included a cancellation of limos for the convention's guests just last week. Our informant conjectures that the cons celebrity guests may not even be compensated for the event, which has not been confirmed. No official word has come out, and it is likely the convention will go forward and if these reports are true, may or may not manifest themselves down the road.
This information has yet to be officially confirmed and comes from individuals working in and around the event and Fandom, who provided TrekWeb with their limited range of knowledge regarding the matter only. The below musing on the Fandom forums may offer additional speculation, which includes the possibility buy-out talks and emergency meetings. The status of Cinescape or Creation is Fandom folds can only be left to speculation at this point, though the word is surfacing that Creation may be struggling to come out independent of Fandom while Cinescape will be put up for sale immediately.
