This letter was sent to UK collectors (and sent in to TrekWeb by AnthonyF), and announces the Franklin Mint's latest Star Trek offering.
Dear Collector,
It all began on 4th April, 2063, as Zefram Cochrane prepared to
launch the first ship with warp capabilities. Unbeknownst to
Cochrane, his flight would play a crucial role in galactic history,
for this was the ship destined to make earth's first contact with
extraterrestrials, ushering in a new age of peace and prosperity.
But there was a price. The notorious Borg, determined to thwart
Cochrane, travelled back in time to prevent this momentous flight.
Enter the crew of the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE to battle the Borg and ensure
Cochrane a successful launch so he could make that historic first
contact and complete his, and humanity's, inaugural warp flight.
This is the story of the Phoenix, the ship that started it all. It
can now be yours when you place your order for the sensational model
portrayed in superb detail in the accompanying illustration.
What makes this precision sculpture all the more significant is that
it is the creation of John Eaves, designer of the Phoenix space ship
that appeared in the movie STAR TREK: First Contact. That same ship
is now captured in an unprecedented first. John Eaves has hand-
sculpted a pewter model of this famous ship, created from his
original drawings. The booster rockets, main engine array, capsule,
and nose are all selectively plated with 22 carat gold. The nacelles
are not only selectively plated with 22 carat gold but are also
enhanced with fiery red crystal cahochons. The ship is hand-burnished
to a gleaming steel-like lustre and held by a sculpted die-cast arm
attached to a handsome base, which is hand-signed by John Raves.
A fascinating voyage of imagination, fully authorised and
authenticated by Paramount Pictures. Available exclusively from
Franklin Mint at the attractive issue price of just £195, which is
payable in convenient monthly instalments. Make first contact and
take home a legend.
Yours sincerely,
Stewart Resnick,
Chairman.
