Pics and Interview with Roxann Dawson from Latest FHM Magazine

The latest issue of FHM Magazine, just out in the U.S, features a cover story on the 'Girls of Sci-Fi', which includes an exclusive interview and photos of Voyager actress Roxann Dawson.

Here are some excerpts of Roxann's interview :

FHM : Special powers ?

"None, but the Klingons are known to have very voracious mating habits, so when she had a love scene, I had to turn into a wild and sexy beast, which was kind of fun. You can't look at this half-alien and think she's beatiful by normal standards. It's been quite a challenge to find her sexuality in there, and amazing how many men respond to her unusual sexiness."

FMH : Fan reactions ?

"Masses of people wrote in to welcome me to their universe. I've had my fair share of unpublishable letters from prisoners and men requesting my underwear. And at conventions, people give me strange things to sign. My rule of thumb is if I can't tell what it is, I won't sign it. I get sweet and torrid letters in equal measure. People identify with her because she's half alien and feels she doesn't belong in the human world or the alien world. I got a letter from a kid whose parents were divorcing. He wrote to say he felt torn between his mother and his father and really identified his struggles with B'Ellana's."

FHM : Best sci-fi moment ?

"I love having a job on a spaceship. They've put so much money into the sets that when I walk on there, I truly feel I'm on a rocket and that we could take off at any moment. It's a great set to be a master of and to command people from. It's two stories of pure power."

FHM : Favorite sci-fi thing ?

"That world was brand-new to me when I joined Star Trek Voyager, so I had no idea what I was in for. Now I know more about it than I ever thought possible".

FHM : Do you believe in aliens ?

"I believe in anything unless you can firmly disprove it. Having lived with aliens for the last seven years, it seems so natural for me that if I ran into a alien on the street right now. I wouldn't think twice."

Left to right : Michelle Lintel (Black Scorpion), Gena Lee Nolin (Shenna), Traci Binghan (Black Scorpion), Victoria Pratt (Cleopatra 2525), Alexandra Lee (Special Unit 2), Roxann Dawson (Star Trek Voyager) Lexa Doig (Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda), Emilia Raven (Roswell) and Lisa Boyle (Black Scorpion).

And feminists call this "empowerment"??

Wow... we HAVE come a long way, baby... too bad "progress" has been in the wrong direction.

Shame on Roxanne for agreeing to be a part of this blatant reduction of women into used-up objects. With women like this around, our gender will NEVER gain power OR self-respect. I thought she was smarter than this... for shame.

OPINION POLLS
ENTERPRISE has been revealed this week and we'd like to know how you would rate the show so far based on the new Enterprise NX-01, the interior set design, the new costumes, and any other info that you may already possess!
(A) Spectacular! The first looks offered this week reveal a series with immense potential and more excitement for Star Trek than I've felt since the days of TNG!
(B) Impressive, but cautiously so! What I've seen so far has promise and most of it is in the right direction, but I will restrain my jubilation for after the premiere!
(C) Uninteresting! The photos I've seen so far reveal a series that lacks serious originality in artistic design and I am open-minded yet skeptical of its potential!
(D) Horrifying! What we've been shown so far is unoriginal and unexciting, revealing a series unexcuseably violative of continuity and poorly developed; Paramount will be lucky if I tune in!
