Ain't It Cool News just posted the following rumor : "It looks like James Crowmell is poised to reprise his role as "Zefram Cochrane" from 'Star Trek : First Contact' in the premiere episode of ENTERPRISE. In it, Dr. Cochrane makes a supposedly stirring speech that sends this first crew of explorers on their way." You can read the original report here.

Crap.... here we go...

Do I even have to say anything about how I feel about this or does my name in the post speak for itself by now?

Here we go again... Berman and Co. bungling continuity... Hopefully they will pull this off legitimately, but It doesn't sound like it. Of course at this point, this is all rumor and we don't know if it is even true. So what I am typing here applies only if this rumor is true...

Let me see if I can help the staff over at Enterprise with this. Lets see, Cochrane sets out to wander years before Captain Archer and crew begin their journey, and somehow gets pulled into the Nexus, where he meets Picard's echo which convinces Cochrane to go back at the time of the launch of Archer's Enterprise, to make sure the tiny ship knows to avoid the Badlands, The stationary wormhole that leads to the Delta Quadrant, and the Klingon Empire, which would, in turn, negate all existance as Berman is infallible and to prove him wrong would undo the Trek Timeline as we know it.... wait.... he's too late. Well, if Archer can get Cochrane back to the Nexus, we may very well have a chance to fix all this.

I have a solution Captain! Perhaps, I can cause a phased ditortion with a resonance burst from my cable modem while disengaging drive plasma from the pentium coils on my laptop, I may be able to erase Braga's hard drive on the Paramount Network and restore Trek to its proper and previous state!

Sounds a little contrived huh? Sorry, I had come to think that was allowed.

Continuity Error!!!

If the other story regarding the more detailed synopsis of the show and the pilot is true, it mentions the series begins near 2160 (2161 being the year the Federation was founded).

If Zefram Cochrane is going to appear in this series, the series would have to be set no later than 2117, because in the original episode "The Changeling," we learn Cochrane left his home on Alpha Centauri (presumbably he moved there after the events in "First Contact") at the age of 87 and disappeared into deep space.

I, personally, would prefer the series start around 2154 so the finale (7 years later) can show the founding of the Federation. This would relegate and appearance of Cocharne to that of a holographic display.

Old Zephram?

Wouldn't Zephram Cochrane be too busy beginning his several hundred year long 'Cast Away' gig on the planet with "Being of Colored Lights #7," the companion? They shouldn't show him as an old fella because he got lost in sapce, at least according to TOS. Someone spare me the madness and remind me of the name of that episode, k?

this may have spoilers

it would be great to see cochrane again. but i also hope that it is a taped message b/c i really want the time frame of this series to take place in 2150 & 60s so we can see the "birth" of the federation. it would also be cool if he said in his speech the quote that riker told him inside the phoenix. that would be a great touch of continuity.

::::::::::::::: WARNING: THE FOLLOWING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!!! :::::::::::::::::

Garth over at Dark Horizons (www.darkhorizons.com) has reviewed a script from the Enterprise Pilot. His review with some spoilers can be found here: link
His review coroborates that there is a 'video' of Cochran, but who plays the part (Cromwell???) remains to be seen. He also touches on the rumored 'time travel' aspect of the show and the Orion girls (will they or won't they?).

While I have serious doubts about the validity of this rumor, it would certainly be interesting if it were true. Especially nice would be the chance to see how Cochrane's character has changed and matured since the events of First Contact, from a drunken cynic to someone who would deliver a "stirring speech" to send the Enterprise on its way.

Take care!

This would seem to place the series at around 2101-2115 (as Cochrane disappears around 2117), confirming earlier reports that it will be 150 years before the original series and around 50 years before the formation of the Federation.

OPINION POLLS
ENTERPRISE has been revealed this week and we'd like to know how you would rate the show so far based on the new Enterprise NX-01, the interior set design, the new costumes, and any other info that you may already possess!
(A) Spectacular! The first looks offered this week reveal a series with immense potential and more excitement for Star Trek than I've felt since the days of TNG!
(B) Impressive, but cautiously so! What I've seen so far has promise and most of it is in the right direction, but I will restrain my jubilation for after the premiere!
(C) Uninteresting! The photos I've seen so far reveal a series that lacks serious originality in artistic design and I am open-minded yet skeptical of its potential!
(D) Horrifying! What we've been shown so far is unoriginal and unexciting, revealing a series unexcuseably violative of continuity and poorly developed; Paramount will be lucky if I tune in!
