Robert Wise, director of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, will present the first clips of the much-anticipated Director's Edition of that movie at the Comic-Con International Convention in San Diego, California on Saturday, July 21st, according to the official Star Trek Web site, StarTrek.com.

Wise will be joined by members of the production team behind The Director's Edition who, along with Wise, will hold a question and answer discussion session regarding the DVD. Following the panel, Wise will sign autographs.

According to StarTrek.com, The Director's Edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture is scheduled to be released later this year.

...are taken from comments made by Robert Wise during his recent convention appearance to promote the DVD of Star Trek: The Motion Picture:

"...OK, what you're about to view is...wait, is this thing on? Hello?...could someone turn down the AC please, it's hot in here...Nancy, is that you? It's so good to see you...hey, 2 Irish guys walk into this bar, and...dammit, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, back in 1942...".

I dragged my ass all the way to Pasadena for the Creation Con *JUST* to see the ST:TMP-TDE Trailer, and Robert Wise Productions rewarded my efforts by including three (Count 'em! Three!) new effects shots from The Director's Edition totalling about two seconds worth of footage.

San Diego is just going to have to do without my charmed presence, guys.

OPINION POLLS
ENTERPRISE has been revealed this week and we'd like to know how you would rate the show so far based on the new Enterprise NX-01, the interior set design, the new costumes, and any other info that you may already possess!
(A) Spectacular! The first looks offered this week reveal a series with immense potential and more excitement for Star Trek than I've felt since the days of TNG!
(B) Impressive, but cautiously so! What I've seen so far has promise and most of it is in the right direction, but I will restrain my jubilation for after the premiere!
(C) Uninteresting! The photos I've seen so far reveal a series that lacks serious originality in artistic design and I am open-minded yet skeptical of its potential!
(D) Horrifying! What we've been shown so far is unoriginal and unexciting, revealing a series unexcuseably violative of continuity and poorly developed; Paramount will be lucky if I tune in!
