Gamespot reports that Activision as has suspended development of its previously-announced title 'Star Trek: Borg Assimilator', which was schedule to be released in Q4 of this year. The game would put players in the role of the Borg, assimilating colonies and technologies to win the game. While it had been in development at Cyberlore Studios, word is that the game has been put on hold due to conflicts with its representation of the 'Star Trek' universe.
The move will not affect other Activision titles, such as 'Bridge Commander' or 'Armada II'.

To those of you who think otherwise, the conflict in my opinion is that it doesn't represent the Star Trek universe well is because people will have the misconception that Star Trek has turned from transporter beams and squeeky computers to a story about cyborgs who's sole purpose is to turn others into cyborgs, it also might be because the Borg's central base was destroyed in Voyager and perhaps all but a few thousand drones have been killed by the Neural Pathogen in Endgame, and need not worry about assimilating while they rebuild.
God dammit Endgame left me dissatisfied, with loads of questions that won't be answered till at least STX, the main one being if the Enterprise E will have that kickass armour from the future, and how much of the borg there is left.

Conflicts?

Activision has really revived Star Trek games with Armada and Elite Force, which are based on violent phaser battles and not on the scientific nature of Star Trek. So, why would the borg angle conflict with the genre? Armada rocks and I can't wait till Armada II, the first sequel Star Trek game with the number included which hints at the original success
