Psi Phi reports today that long-time 'Trek' novelist Diane Carey will write the novelization of the ENTERPRISE premiere, "Broken Bow", tentatively scheduled for an October 2001 release. Carey has written the novelizations for both the 'DS9' finale episode "What You Leave Behind" and the 'VOY' finale "Endgame", as well as a plethora of other 'Trek' novels.

The "Broken Bow" novelization will also include a "Making of Enterprise" featurette written by Paul Ruditis, whose credits include the "Voyager Companion".

Psi Phi also reports that the second ENTERPRISE novel (#2) is currently slated for release in January of next year, to be written by 'Trek' novel mainstays Dean Wesley Smith and Kristine Kathryn Rusch.

Novels already????

Come on... there is no reason for novels to be produced so soon.... It's not like the 1970's when there was a need for Trek novels to be produced... and these novels are not considered canon, anyway. I can't see how, for example, the TOS novels could all fit within a 5 year mission... it's impossible! I can't see how the TNG, DS9 and VOY novels can fit within the time frame of their respective shows, either....
I have read a few of the novels, like The Rift, Enterprise! and others that fill in some gaps, but that's about it.
Maybe a poll could even be taken: Does anyone read the Trek novels?

You will be watching ENTERPRISE because...
It's a 'Star Trek' series after all, I don't care about the producers, actors, or writers!
Scott Bakula. He is a fan-favorite because of his work on 'Quantum Leap'.
Jolene Blalock . Sexploitation be damned, she is hotter than Jeri Ryan!
It's not set in the over-used 24th Century, full of tecnobabble, quantum anomalies or Borg [yet]!
If nothing else, the UPN promos have done it for me!
Who said I will be watching? Berman and Braga will destroy 'Star Trek' with this prequel concept!
