Lolita Fatjo Talks About Spec Scripts for Star Trek

The Borg Grail website just posted an report from the recent Odissey convention, in which former pre-production coordinator Lolita Fatjo talked about script submissions to the Trek series and the importance of following the guidelines.

According to the report, Fatjo emphasised though that no matter how good or bad your script is, the most important is to make it look good and follow the rules. She gave a few examples of people who didn't follow the rules : people who send in scripts 10 pages or 100 pages long even though the guidelines say 55-65 pages. Or one person, according to Fatjo, who send a script called "Tangerine", with a crate of Tangerines with it, and, apparentely Brannon Braga was convinced they were poisoned and had them binned.

As previously reported here at TrekWeb, according to Fatjo, ENTERPRISE "[probably] won't take spec scripts. If they do, it will ge at least a year after the show starts to air, as they like to give the staff writers time to get a feel for the characters before they start bringing in outsiders."

No, Brannon Braga... they weren't poisoned! They were just... er... slightly discolored. Eat, my little friend, eat!

Besides, do you know what it costs to ship a crate of tangerines these days?

with all the b&b flameboys on trekweb, i can see why braga would be afraid of being poisoned!

"GET A LIFE, will you people? I mean, for crying out loud, it's just a TV show! ... You've turned an enjoyable little job, that I did as a lark for a few years, into a COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME!"

I wonder of Braga ever received a crate with a script called "Oh Crap!"

(Heaven knows so many of their own would've qualified for that... )

How about sending Movie Titles in on spec...

Yesterday's announcement fiasco from George Lucas on the title of Episode 2 has everyone running to 'bow at the porcelain throne' in disgust. I wonder if there was a similar movie title conflict with ST:X. Perhaps B&B were going to call it "The Assault of the Clones" or "The Wrath of the Doppleganger" or something.

Nemesis sounds like a winner now.

I suppose Lucas could've avoided the whole firestorm had he stuck with the originally rumored title: "Star Wars Episode 2: All Your Clones Are Belong To Us."

You will be watching ENTERPRISE because...
It's a 'Star Trek' series after all, I don't care about the producers, actors, or writers!
Scott Bakula. He is a fan-favorite because of his work on 'Quantum Leap'.
Jolene Blalock . Sexploitation be damned, she is hotter than Jeri Ryan!
It's not set in the over-used 24th Century, full of tecnobabble, quantum anomalies or Borg [yet]!
If nothing else, the UPN promos have done it for me!
Who said I will be watching? Berman and Braga will destroy 'Star Trek' with this prequel concept!
