Dept: Star Trek BBS Update

Here's some of the week's popular discussions on the STAR TREK BBS...

  • How come "The Next Generation's" 3rd season is considered the BEST of the bunch.
by baboymo, who says "Duh...it's not that hard to figure out, get rid of the fugly 1st season uniforms and you're ready to go. Just kidding...all jokes aside, the 3rd is really fun to watch."

  • Enterprise and the Future
by ent1701d, who says "Just having read the new TV Guide on Enterprise, I was very dismayed at the thought of having a gay character on Trek. Why should we have one? They are on every tv show on tv now. What a low moment if this happens."

  • Silly but...I hate the men's haircuts on Trek!!
by Ensign Ro-Your-Boat, who says "If it isn't a crew-cut, short & spiky, or flat out long (mine is all one length grown to my neck-line)...I think we as males look absolutely rediculous. The whole parted on the side or slicked back politician look is laughable, yet every male actor in Trek, with an exception for the afore mentioned names have that style."

  • Is Enterprise species racist?
by Siroth, who says "One thing that annoys me in the beginning is how the Vulcans are portrayed. They are positively arrogant, patronizing, and condescending to humans, having kept them in the dark about what goes on in the galaxy around them. I would have thought Vulcan logic would have arrived at the conclusion that just keeping stuff secret from humans would strand said humans with overwhelming curiousity to go and find out what's out there. Yet they've apparently kept humans in the dark for a century anyway, so I guess vulcan logic failed to a rather huge degree... "

  • What was your first words after you saw Endgame?
by Factor5, who says "My first words were: "WHAT!??!?!""

  • A 'Timeless' Quandry
by The Eternal Fraznaz, who says "I believe 'Timeless' is one of the best episodes of Voyager. It is wonderfully directed by Levar Burton, and has some of the most memorable moments of any Voyager ep."

  • Enterprise will be...watchable?
by kitara, who says about the "Broken Bow" script, "It's honestly as if they took the worst parts of all the series, stuck them in a blender, and poured the resulting sludge onto paper. There are some HORRIBLE scenes."

  • The Phlox character - a new Neelix?
by spaceguy, who says "Neelix was supposed to be a guide to the crew but we didnīt see very much of that and he really didnīt have much to do, he was also irritating at times."

  • STAR TREK V-----Special Edition DVD
by Equinox5, who says "If they make a special edition DVD of star trek V....the only thing i would care about is UPDATE THOSE EXTREMLY CCCCRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAPPPPYYYYYY EFFECTS......screw the documentries....just update the effects...... "

  • Would you be willing to except an all new cast for Trek X?
by Ensign Ro-Your-Boat, who says "Lets speculate for a moment that the reports of the financial squabbling between the TNG cast and Paramount is true. If Stewart and co simply ask for so much money, that Paramount ultimately decides it's no loner worth it to keep them aboard, based on the below average returns from "Insurrection" and the general downward spike Trek's profitability has taken in recent years, is it possible that execs may switch gears entirely, take a cue from ENT, and hire an all new cast for the movie arm of the Trek franchise?"

ENTERPRISE blasts off with series premiere "Broken Bow" -- now that you've seen it, tell us what YOU think...
(A+) The premiere was spectacular and ENT looks to be the best Trek in years!
(A) The premiere was great, but I'm reserving judgment on ENT until later.
(B) The premiere was good, but a little flimsy in the brains department.
(C) The premiere was on par with other Trek pilots, but nowhere near the top.
(D) The premiere was generally unimpressive and ENT needs improvement.
(F) The premiere was an utter disappointment and a disgrace to Star Trek! I may not even tune in next week!
