TNN Rolls Out Week-Long 'Trek' Launch Including 35th Anniversary Special

Dept: General Star Trek

Broadcasting & Cable magazine has this on their web site today, more information on TNN, Trek and the upcoming marathons:

Touting its new Star Trek franchise, TNN will run a week-long marathon devoted to the sci-fi TV phenomenon running Oct. 1-5 entitled “Next Gen on TNN: A 5-Day Mission.” Star Trek: The Next Generation alums Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis and Wil Wheaton will host the marathon, which will include best Next Generation episodes, three Star Trek movies and an original documentary. TNN will also slip in Star Trek-related content into that Monday’s WWF Raw is War telecast.

Monday will also be movie night, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, and Star Trek V: The Final Frontier back-to-back.

TNN's Trek opening night climaxes America Loves…Star Trek, a documentary that marks the 35th anniversary of Star Trek programming.

The rest of the week will be filled with about 80 Next Generation episodes. TNN acquired much of the Star Trek library from Paramount Television, its sister studio under Viacom, last November. - Susanne Ault

If the TNN run of TNG will be your first viewing, I have some advice.

You will probably find the first season to be pretty crappy, but DON'T TUNE OUT. KEEP WATCHING. There will be GREAT episodes coming later, some of which make significant references to episodes in the first season.

(I truly hope that TNN will show the episodes IN ORDER.)

The only danger is if they send us to that horrible planet of the apes...Wait a minute...Statue of Liberty?!... That was OUR planet!...YOU MANIACS!!...YOU BLEW IT UP!!DAMN YOU!!DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!

How come the Sci-fi channel didn't follow up on the TOS Special Editions. Many there is too many episodes too purchase the rights to.
Just hope TNN passes the uncut episodes. As well as cleaned up this nearly 15 year old show.

Is anyone actually gonna watch TNN Trek?

That god awful, huge, solid, multi-color logo is bad enough... but they cut off the bottom inch of the damn screen with a black bar the shows the FREAKING NAME OF THE SHOW.

Christ, if I want to know what is on I either switch to the TV Guide channel or press the XDS button on the remote for the on-screen display of channel/program info.

I refuse to watch ANYTHING on TNN as long as they have this horrible crap logo/banner. It totally ruins whatever it is you are trying to watch.

Wow, TNN is really going a great job to promote the TNG reruns. It's great to see the network get behind Trek like this and make an event out of what could have easily been just another series entering syndicated reruns. All of this sort of reminds me of how pathetic UPN is looking back at how they failed to give Voyager any kind of a memorable sendoff. Good job TNN, look forward to watching the Best of Trek!

You will be watching ENTERPRISE because...
It's a 'Star Trek' series after all, I don't care about the producers, actors, or writers!
Scott Bakula. He is a fan-favorite because of his work on 'Quantum Leap'.
Jolene Blalock . Sexploitation be damned, she is hotter than Jeri Ryan!
It's not set in the over-used 24th Century, full of tecnobabble, quantum anomalies or Borg [yet]!
If nothing else, the UPN promos have done it for me!
Who said I will be watching? Berman and Braga will destroy 'Star Trek' with this prequel concept!
