Dept: Star Trek BBS Update

With the premiere of 'Star Trek's fifth television series quickly approaching, the STAR TREK BBS is abuzz with all sorts of ENTERPRISE discussions as well as discussions concerning the development of the tenth 'Trek' feature, STAR TREK: NEMESIS, and other areas of 'Star Trek' interest...

  • Hippo's 10 Better ENT Theme Songs
by Mr. Hippo. The Hippo returns from a short hiatus and voices his distaste for the as-yet-unconfirmed reports that the Diane Warren-written, Rod Stewart-performed "Faith of the Heart" will be rerecorded by opera star Russell Watson for the ENTERPRISE title theme, as well as expressing his own top ten songs that would make a much better choice.

  • The point of it all
by slider, who in asking for others' take on what exactly 'Trek's message is or should be, offers his own by saying, "I for one see it as a positive alternative to most other TV shows that is in some ways "Above" the slime of moden entertainment. It offers people an enlightened hour of fun that is more evolved than the "ape-vision" that sitcoms, or soaps offer. It forces the viewers to think and to wonder. If Trek ever looses this, then I fear it will have become another 'ape-ep'."

  • Let me see if I got this right...
by Vreenak, who says "The general consensus is that Trek needs something new and fresh to give it a little shot in the arm. I think we're going to get some of that with Enterprise. So, while we need some fresh ideas, the things being offered to us by Enterprise don't qualify as fresh or new or exciting or anything besides mindless crap. I think that no matter what you offer some people, they're just not going to be satisfied."

  • "Course: Oblivion"....................................One of Fuller's best
by Sankoni, who says the episode is "flawless" and has sparked a discussion of the episode's merits as well as other Fuller-written episodes.

  • The REAL DISH on Star Trek films!
by Mr. Hippo, who has compiled the stats on all the Trek films, from gross to tickets sold.

  • Just read NEM script: "Not so wounded as we were lead to believe" (it's really good!)
by SteveKrutzler, who shares his thoughts about the NEMESIS script, saying it contains much more depth than previous reviewers have given it credit for (SPOILERS).

  • Look of alien baddies in VOY's "Homestead" one of Westmore's best
by Ensign Ro-Your-Boat, who says oft-criticized Michael Westmore actually showed some creative gusto toward the end of 'Voyager'.

  • Best Star Trek book?
by grkirk13, who wants recommendations for a great 'Trek' book to give as a gift.

  • ST:NEM Things to chew on
by Robnhud, who shares some additional thoughts on the NEMESIS script, from casting ideas to FX budget suggestions.

  • Enterprise in Australia
by Panem_et_Circuses, who asks the BBS where ENTERPRISE will air in Australia, and some posters have suggested "alternative" means of acquiring episodes...

  • Best Trek line ever?
by species_5698, who from "Khaaaaaaaaaaaannnnn" to "Prepare for ramming speed!!", has started a lively exchange of everyone's favorites.

  • They've put the Vulcan in a catsuit?
by Stilgar, who says "I have just seen one of the promotional photos. The actress basically seems to be wearing a version of 7 of 9's catsuit. IS THIS FOR REAL? Or will the actress get a different regular costume?"

If you haven't joined the discussion yet, beam on over to www.startrekbbs.com today and don't miss a beat of the excitement as ENTERPRISE gets ready to premiere on September 26th!
