Paramount Greenlights STAR TREK: NEMESIS for 2003 Release |

In somewhat of a surprise, Variety reprots that Paramount has finally greenlighted the tenth 'Trek' feature, titled 'Nemesis', for not an October production start, but a late November shoot. Director Stuart Baird will begin principle photography on November 28th, and the studio is apparently eyeing a late 2003 release date for the film. This would mark the longest production for a 'Star Trek' feature.
FX house Digital Domain, under the direction of Mark Forker will be in charge of the enormous effects load for the feature, which may be one reason that a 2002 release date appears to have been shelved. Fall 2003 will mark five years since the last 'Trek' feature, the longest gap between films since the beginning of the series in 1979.
