According to Cinescape Magazine, 'Futurama', the sci-fi parody cartoon from the creators of The Simpsons will do a 'Star Trek episode' in its upcoming fourth season, which premieres December 2001.
"A good number of the original Star Trek cast will be involved" says executive producer David Cohen.
"The story revolves around the cult of Star Trek that grew into its own religion around the 23rd Century and became too powerful in the coming centuries" says Cohen "The world leaders - Jimmy Carter's head and the Space Pope - grew fearful of its power and banned all Star Trek viewing. All tapes were destroyed and launched to a forbidden planet. Now, the entire original cast has disappeared except for Leonard Nimoy, whose head remains in the dead museum, so Fry is determined to bring back this great thing he loves and sets off on an adventure to do that."
