The Psi Phi website and Pocket Books editor John Ordover has provided a brief description for 'By The Book', written by Dean Wesley Smith and Kristine Kathryn Rusch. This is the second ENTERPRISE novel - the first original novel with the crew of the NX-01 after the novelization.
"Captain Jonathan Archer and the crew of the Enterprise face a planet with not one but two kinds of strange alien beings unlike anything the novice space travellers have seen before. When their first contact goes horribly wrong, Captain Archer must find a way to prevent an interplanetary war."
