No Scheduling Conflict After All? and Jonathan Frakes Happy Out of Director's Chair

The Dark Horizons website just posted more info on the scheduling conflicts in regards to the 'X-Men' sequel and 'Star Trek Nemesis'. According to one 'scooper' of the site, "I'm hearing lots of talks of the X-Men 2 movie starting production in early (Jan/Feb) 2002 (hence the stories of Halle Berry's scheduling conflicts and its resolution). After speaking at length with a prominent cast-member in the last week, I can confirm that there ISN'T a start date scheduled at present [for 'X-Men 2']. In fact, the actor told me that they believe it will be July or August of next year before filming begins. This is actually fortuitous as lead actor Patrick Stewart apparently doesn't even begin filming Star Trek X until the last week of November 2001."

You can read the original report here.

Also, Stewart's co-star Jonathan Frakes has chimed in briefly with Sci-Fi Wire to say he's happy not to have to assume the enormous responsibility of helming the tenth TREK feature this time around:

"Frankly, it's a year of your life. I've done two, and they were great. How different or better can the third one be for me? Plus, I get to play with Marina [Sirtis, whose Troi character may marry Riker]. I can lie around the set and laugh with Patrick [Stewart] and Brent [Spiner]. I can be the a-shole I always was. I don't have to worry about making the schedule."

Frakes will be directing Paramount's family-oriented CLOCKSTOPPERS beginning in March and has sold several television projects in his own right to MTV and Canadian YTV. For more, check out this page.

1-2: Abhorrent! The series is rotten through and through from premise to execution!
