With the release of Star Trek: The Motion Picture - The Director's Edition only a little over two weeks away on November 6th, Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders for the DVD and VHS versions of the film. Amazon.com's price for the DVD version is $22.49 and for the VHS version, without many of the special features, is $12.99.
In addition to the DVD and VHS versions of the film, which have been expected for some time, Amazon.com is also taking pre-orders for DVD and VHS boxed sets of The Original Series films and the complete Star Trek film series. Both boxed sets include The Director's Edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and the previously released widescreen DVD and VHS versions of the other films.
The original series movie collection, featuring the first six films, is being sold on DVD for $134.96 and on VHS for $79.70. The complete film collection, featuring all nine Trek films to date, is selling on DVD for $202.43 and on VHS for $119.55.
