TrekWeb received the following press release from TNN:
New York, NY, – Space, the final frontier. But what about cyber-space? The New TNN: THE NATIONAL NETWORK, the home of the STAR TREK franchise, goes into warp speed to discover a new frontier with the most comprehensive STAR TREK chat to be held on America Online (AOL). The “Ultimate Star Trek Chat Marathon” will take place live on Monday, Nov. 19 and Tuesday, Nov. 20 and can be accessed at AOL Keyword: Live (8:00-11:00 PM, ET).
The “Ultimate Star Trek Chat Marathon” will be the first chat to feature stars culled from the original STAR TREK, its spin-off series THE NEXT GENERATION, DEEP SPACE NINE, VOYAGER and ENTERPRISE and feature films. This surpasses the STAR TREK chat that took place on the AOL service back in 1998 which featured the seven stars and director of the feature film STAR TREK: INSURRECTION.
The Monday, Nov. 19 “Chat Marathon” will feature the men of STAR TREK while Tuesday, Nov. 20 features the women of STAR TREK. Some of the celebrities confirmed to participate include; Marina Sirtis -- Counselor Deanna Troi on STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION; Denise Crosby -- Lt. Natasha “Tasha” Yar on STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION; Robert Picardo -- Doctor on STAR TREK: VOYAGER; Walter Koenig -- Pavel A. Checkov on the original STAR TREK; Wil Wheaton – Ensign Wesley Crusher on STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION with more stars signing on daily.
The “Ultimate Star Trek Chat Marathon” leads up to the TNN post-Thanksgiving Day celebration, STAR GAZING ON STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION MARATHON on Friday, Nov. 23 (9:00 AM – Midnight, ET/PT). The day-long marathon, hosted by Patrick Stewart who portrayed Captain Jean Luc Picard on STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, features episodes in which a different guest star is featured – such as Whoopi Goldberg, Kelsey Grammar, Leonard Nimoy, Ashley Judd and Bebe Neuwirth.
Earlier this year TNN secured the telecast rights to three STAR TREK series and five movies for the next ten years. STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION can regularly be seen on TNN Monday – Friday at 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM, both ET/PT. TNN will begin to telecast STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE in fall 2004 and STAR TREK: VOYAGER in late 2006.
