Dept: Star Trek BBS Update
Here are some of this week's active discussions on the STAR TREK BBS...
- Phaser's (tardy) review of "Fortunate Son"
by Phaser1701, who echoes fan sentiment this week that "Fortunate Son" was a mediocre episode, burying wonderful potential in cliched plotting, weak acting, and weak directing of its conclusion. Think this ISN'T the prevailing opinion? Reply here!
- Weak Archer Character
by Gary7, who says Bakula's Archer is unconvincing as a captain and weakly acted thusfar.
- How many times has Star trek been ripped off? (or The Illegitimate sons of Trek)!
by Doohan, who asks posters to name other series or movies that have blatantly ripped off STAR TREK.
- So begins the male hypocritical backlash of Jolene Blalok
by Ensign-Ro-Your-Boat, who believes there's a contradiction between some viewers' opinion that Blalock is sexually attractive and their judgement that she is intellectually sterile. This one has sparked a lively debate.
- TOS with redone fx revisited
by John, who asks in the wake of TMP: Director's Edition if fans would like to see TOS with redone visual FX.
- FAV TREK??? Anyone? Anyone?
by marker86, where a good starting for newbies has emerged, with BBS posters listing their TREK movie and series preferances.
- 5 Best and Worst Species
by slider, who puts Pakleds on the list and considers Janeway a species of her own!
- Enterprise and CGI
by Bean, where there's almost universal agreement that one thing ENTERPRISE does well is CGI visual FX.
- what is wrong with this Enterprise??
by teth, who is just one of many who seem underwhelmed by ENTERPRISE of late, in part due to confusion about Archer and lack of a presence for Hoshi in recent episodes.
- What makes Anthony Montgomery a bad actor? (Be specific)
by Ensign-Ro-Your-Boat, where many posters have chimed in to explain why they think Anthony Montgomery isn't the best actor in the TREK universe.
- Enterprise Characters, best to worst.
Sarah of Borg, where the BBS has chimed in to rate the ENTERPRISE characters from top to bottom.
- Fortunate Son, another good episode!
by RAMA, who seems in the minority when calling "Fortunate Son" one of the best episodes overall.
- It's official. Archer has turned into Janeway
by O. Deus, who thinks the latest episode has finally turned Archer into another poorly-written, self-righteous, and irrational STAR TREK captain in the vein of the much-beligned Janeway.
- A Challenge: name your STAR TREK "guilty pleasures"
by Captain Gorn, who asks posters to name the "bad" TREK episodes that they secretly adore.
These are just some of the discussions going on now at the STAR TREK BBS, and there are new posters joining every day. So if you have yet to chime in with your opinion, or are just plain sick of the "negative STAR TREK fans" being overrrepresented in online fandom, head on over to www.startrekbbs.com today and sign up in three easy steps! |
