In an interview with American Dream Comics, Art Asylum's Adam Unger revealed that the company, which produced 7" Borg Drone, Species 8472, Klingon Warrior, and Harry Kim figures in 1999, has won the international rights to produce toy figures from the newest STAR TREK series. Unger revealed that all the figures will be 7" similar to the company's Crouching Tiger series, and that the license includes vehicles and playsets.
"I think they needed someone who could show the love and enthusiasm this brand needed to relaunch it again at retail. Also, a company with respect to the fans and collectors, they are the final decision makers and we know this better than most companies I can assure you," said Unger of the deal.
He revealed that the first figures, based on the series premiere "Broken Bow," will appear on shelves early in 2002, and that Art Asylum is also in tap to provide NEMESIS toys later in the year to coincide with the film's holiday release.
