The offical web site posted its first official production update on STAR TREK: NEMESIS, which began shooting the week after Thanksgiving. The report confirms many months-old rumors for the first time, mentioning that Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, and Michael Dorn were on hand to shoot desert-planet scenes on location around Palmdale and Lancaster, north of L.A. This is most likely the "jeep" segment, in which Picard youthfully indulges in a little off-roading in the Federation's new land-vehicle, the team discovers the scattered pieces of Data's long-lost predecessor, B-9, and they escape from raiding aliens in a James Bond-esque finale stunt that, at least as written, is sure to blow our socks off near the beginning of the film.
The report also mentions that new trailers for the cast were brought in recently to accomodate the actors until shooting completes in March, and that the Enterprise-E sets have been resurrected next to the Enterprise NX-01 sets. The report also confirms Wil Wheaton's cameo appearance, and the long-rumored scene in Alaska -- Riker's home state. This is where, according to the script, Riker will be married to Counselor Troi, and the report informs us that the Alaskan landscape will be digitally entered into the scene later.
Finally, the report says that shooting has already commenced on various Enterprise sets including Sickbay, the Crew Lounge, Engineering, and the Weapons Locker, with Bridge scenes to begin soon and consume most of December's schedule.
