First Teaser Expected in May; ENT May Continue Feature Franchise

    Dept: Star Trek: Nemesis

SyFy Portal reports that a Paramount source has informed the site of when to expect the first NEMESIS teaser trailer. Not surprisingly, it's in May, when the summer movie season kicks off, and when EPISODE II of the STAR WARS franchise hits theaters. Fans should expect a typical teaser trailer with stock FX footage and dialogue scenes from the new film.

Looking beyond NEMESIS, which is rumored to be the last TNG film, the site's source says, "I think everyone really can expect there to be an even longer hiatus between films. The current plan is to see 'Enterprise' complete a six- or seven-year run on UPN, and then be made into the next film. I don't think you'll see more than a four- or five-year wait between films. When ['Nemesis'] is finally released, 'Enterprise' will already be in its second season."

Additionally, if ENTERPRISE makes the transition to the big screen, SyFy Portal's informant says the words STAR TREK will most likely be absent from the titles as well, especially considering the European release of STAR TREK IV in 1987 -- which omitted the words "Star Trek" -- performed so well.

While all of this is just speculation at this point, it is probably worth noting that the power of NEMESIS to keep TNG live shouldn't be underestimated. If the film does extremely well, Paramount is likely to ask the cast back again; and while ratings on ENT have been impressive with regard to other recently televised TREK, only ten episodes have run and this is hardly enough guarantee its succession into the movie franchise.
