Dept: Star Trek BBS Update
The holidays have come to a close and TrekWeb welcomes everyone to the new year. The STAR TREK BBS has begun to pick back up in anticipation of new episodes next week, and UK audiences will get their first chance to see the ENTERPRISE premiere tonight on the Sky One satellite network. The BBS has some new usage policies that I hope will help keep things running smoothly (accessible from the upper right-hand corner of the BBS pages), and even some old haunts have returned to join the discussion. If you're still lurking, there's no better time than the beginning of the year to sign up and join the STAR TREK BBS and TrekWeb Talkback!
Here are some of the interesting discussions at the BBS this week...
- Star Trek: Enterprise
by Brikar, who investigates the reasoning behind leaving 'Star Trek' out of the title and expresses general disappointment with ENTERPRISE.
- How much do you think a TOS movie would make now?
by TL, who poses three scenarios for a future TREK feature and asks the BBS how it thinks each would fare.
- "The Cage" is good, and LOTR is spectacular!
by Cymro, who examines the original TOS pilot after a reviewing yesterday in the UK and offers some brief thoughts on LORD OF THE RINGS.
- A critical re-evaluation of VOY's "Emanations"
by Ensign-Ro-Your-Boat, who says that this episode deserves praise and provides a model for a more cerebrally-written Brannon Braga script than what the writer/producer has turned out in recent years.
- instead of Enterprise
by trekwriter, who asks the BBS what type of TREK series the BBS would've preferred over ENTERPRISE.
- Revisiting some old TOS friends....
by Shuster, who recently re-read an old TOS novels "The Vulcan Academy Murders" and "The IDIC Epidemic" and asks the BBS for its opinions.
- T'Pol and Tucker
by booyaka, who after seeing UPN's latest "5 new episodes" trailer ponders the possibility of ENTERPRISE crewmember romance...
- Andorian Incident Redux
by Phaser 1701, who gives the episode a 7/10 upon second viewing and says weak writing held it back overall.
- Oh, oh. The Hippo is sensing a sea change in opinion.
by Mr. Hippo, who claims that those who previously gushed about ENT are starting to backtrack and an interesting conversation beyond TREK has emerged related to the subject.
- So Braga wants ENT to be cool and accessible.
by Mr. Hippo, where once again Brannon Braga proves that he might've been better off not saying anything, lest the fans pick it to pieces.
If you disagree with some of these posts, or think some of them are too generous in their opinions, don't hesitate to head on over to the STAR TREK BBS today and sign up in three easy steps! www.startrekbbs.com. |
