    Dept: Star Trek: Nemesis

In the show's customary prelude to it's STAR TREK: NEMESIS segment in tonight's edition, the Entertainment Tonight web site has posted a round-up of the segment including a video interview with Patrick Stewart from the bridge of the Enterprise-E.

Among the details revealed in the piece, which you can reach here, are that "two key cast members will get married" and that the Romulans will be the "heavies" this time around. The site also confirms yet again that both Kate Mulgrew and Wil Wheaton have cameos in the film and that Ron Perlman will take on a villainous role. Not much news to scores of TREK fans who've probably read entire story and script synopses over the last few months, but certainly enough to get the PR machine rolling early indeed.

Tight-lipped on the plot, Stewart says, "Look the word [nemesis] up, maybe go into a Thesaurus, and find out what other words are associated with nemesis," he grins slyly. "There may be a clue...or not."

But as you'd expect, the British thesp enjoys coming back his old Paramount stomping grounds to reunite with the TNG cast and make these features: "It has a slightly unnerving feeling, in a kind of Rip Van Winkle way -- we've been asleep and suddenly woken up and nothing has changed," he smiles. "But the relationship between this whole group of people has simply deepened and strengthened over the years. That's the principle delight in being back -- the ensemble work that goes on in these movies."

In the video segment with Stewart, the actor jokes at how "Marina Sirtis totaled" the Enterprise-D several movies ago and lets slip the tidbit that she may take the helm once again in NEMESIS--though he seems disappointed with himself for letting it out. Stewart goes on to discuss the Romulans for the non-initiated, calling them "an historical threat to the Federation..." and revealing that while they may not be the most dangerous villain(s) in the picture, they are certainly "in the air."

You can reach the video segment on this page, and more will be on tonight's Entertainment Tonight (check local listings). TrekWeb will bring you links tonight to the various sites providing the video and will provide some mirror sites to download it as well.
