The Flagship has scanned in the photo to the right from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, on newsstands now. The photos, which shows the TNG crew in a candid between-takes moment, also includes the following brief write-up on the film, which according to the Paramount party-line, is still rather top-secret:
Surprises await Trekkies in the new Next Generation film
"You understand I can't talk about the story or anything like that," warns Patrick Stewart, who returns to the captain's chair for the 10th Enterprise movie adventure. Here's what we do know: The Next Generation crew members land on a planet where they battle nemeses old and new. Stewart (left, with Marina Sirtis and LeVar Burton) bravely tried to fend off our questions about the rumors eager Trekkies have floated on the Internet. Will there really be appearances from the Deep Space Nine and Voyager casts? "That's something we're trying to make a surprise and not talk about." A story line about cloning? "That's true." A significant subplot regarding Lieut. Commander Data (Brent Spiner)? "Yes, but I shouldn't say anything more." The return of Spock? "Now, I haven't heard that rumor." (November/December)
Also in this issue, Patrick Stewart talks about Picard having some fun this time around:
MAKING TREKS After steering the USS Enterprise through deep space as Capt. Jean-Luc Picard for 14 years, Patrick Stewart is the last guy you'd expect to get excited about a little hot-rodding. Surprise. "I get to drive a futuristic off-road vehicle," beams Stewart, who burns rubber in Star Trek: Nemesis, due in theaters late this year. "And I mean really drive it. I have the kind of fun that's usually reserved only for racing drivers." The car was built for a "very important sequence" early in the film. "We spend the first two weeks out in [California's Mojave] desert up near Edwards Air Force Base," says Stewart. "It's a wild desert. Perfect for this action sequence." Turns out Stewart, a racing hobbyist, knows what he's talking about. "I have a 10-year-old Jaguar XJS, which I'm very fond of. But I never get to go quite as fast as Picard." --William Keck
