According to Zap2it, Viacom has tapped Lifetime Network executive Dawn Tarnofsky-Ostroff to fill the UPN president post vacated earlier this month by Dean Valentine. The report states that she will oversee all creative aspects of UPN from programming to operation to development and will report directly to CBS head Leslie Moonves.
"I am gratified to have the exciting opportunity" the new job presents, Tarnofsky-Ostroff says. "UPN has shown this season that it can attract its target viewers -- and I look forward to working with Leslie on the challenge of expanding our audience and making UPN a creative and economic success."
Zap2it reports that Tarnofsky-Ostroff was Lifetime's executive vice president of entertainment for two-plus years before moving to UPN, and was previously the cable network's senior vice president of programming and production. Lifetime had the best household ratings of any basic cable network last year.
Tarnofsky-Ostroff was previously with Fox, where she helped develop 'The Practice,' 'King of the Hill', and the now-UPN series 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'.
