The latest issue of Star Trek Monthly Magazine features an exclusive interview with Trek executive producer Rick Berman. In the interview, conducted by journalist Ian Spelling, Berman offers his thoughts and feelings on the 10th Star Trek movie, his feelings on how the new series is progressing, addresses the issue of the show's theme music, and drops some hints about upcoming episodes. Here are some excerpts :

"I couldn't be more impressed," he told the magazine. "We've been doing an action sequence that takes place on an alien planet. I couldn't be more pleased with our director, Stuart Baird. He's been doing a great job."

"John Logan, who wrote the script, very much wanted Kate [Mulgrew] to portray an admiral that we had and Kate was delighted to do it. We have a wedding in the movie and guests at the wedding include Wil Wheaton and Whoopi Goldberg."

Berman also discussed the new series ENTERPRISE with the magazine, saying that "I'm very surprised. It's a delight. I kind of felt it would be met with decent critical response because I felt we did a very good job making it and I think it's a fresh, new television show with a wonderful cast."

As for the often criticized theme song, Berman said "I like the song. I take full responsibility for the song. I think the opening title sequence needed to be changed [...]. In our continuing effort to do things differently and make Enterprise a more contemporary show, the thought of doing a song with a vocal was something I thought was really cool."
