Zap2it reported yesterday that Paramount released a statement saying that TNG and STAR TREK: NEMESIS stars Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, and Michael Dorn had entered at the last minute to the four-man bobsled competition at this month's Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympic Games -- representing the United Federation of Planets.
"We live to luge," Stewart said.
Spiner spoke of cast mate Michael Dorn's tail position on the team saying, "Michael can push," Spiner said of his teammate. "I've seen Michael push."
Frakes rounded out the comments with, "After you've faced off against the Borg, the Swedes aren't really much of a problem."
Just what exactly the nature of this story is -- Zap2it in-joke, Paramount in-joke, or an early indication of some sort of Olympic publicity for the upcoming film -- remains unknown. However, the story does contain one interesting tidbit, naming November 22nd as the release date for the film. This is the second time that a journalistic outlet has named that date in one of its NEMESIS articles, but still no official announcement from the studio.
Check out the original story here and thanks to 'Lee Jamilkowski' for the link.
