    Dept: Star Trek BBS Update

So it’s a be happy Friday and I’m sitting at a swimming pool outside a Trek convention, drinking Mai Tai’s with Ensign-Ro-Your-Boat and Mr. Hippo...

Needless to say I felt a little out of place, they wouldn’t stop arguing over who suggested we drink the Mai Tai’s (It was my idea but they both thought it was theirs). Now this is the kind of shameless name dropping –-not to make you think I’m important – but to draw you, gentle reader, in to this week’s TrekWeb BBS update.

It was another interesting week over at the STAR TREK BBS. By the way if you still haven’t signed up (what is wrong with you?) you can do that here. We had familiar names reinforcing their superiority, new names making, well a name for themselves, and not as many idiots as one might think (I still managed to find them for you). So without further ado…..

Well the real argument between Ro and Mr. Hippo was over who truly had the better week this week. So I being the mediator took a sip of my Mai Tai and handed Mr. Hippo the award for SuperThread of the week. Is Janeway a psychotic (Rhymes with witch)? I decided to let in some threads from late Friday night since they were written after last week’s update. Mr. Hippo did give it up to himself for reaching 100 replies, although, and I counted, he was gasp 36 of the replies. Regardless, the edge is Hippo’s for now.

To be fair Ro suggested we really needed to look at everybody posting this week to be fair. Siroth wanted to know how we would explain the Klingon inconsistency. The prompt answer to which was, WHO CARES? So Siroth isn’t getting any points, but thanks for playing.

Next this triumvirate would move to Saturday. If you can believe it Mr. Hippo posted 3 times, and so did other people, but not one of the threads is worth mentioning. So we will deduct points from Mr. Hippo with worthless banter. So the score is even and Ro hasn’t done anything yet. With that in mind we will move to Sunday…

Ensign-Ro-Your-Boat asked us about Romulans and warp drive. This is a pretty confusing issue, so Ro is deducted for confusing the mediator (me). The other big question of the day is why wussy American football players wear helmets brought to us by allgee. Well I am from Oklahoma, right in the heart of America. So if you use the words wussy and American in the same post, you are automatically disqualified. Sorry allgee, actually I’m really not. See you next time around.

My Mai Tai mates were fairly silent on Monday, but Bean wasn’t, he was busy missing great dialogue in Trek. We all ended up remembering how good TNG was. I thought I was alone, but no more. So for being HUGE fans of DS9 (both of them) Ro and Hippo are both deducted points. Anybody remember who’s ahead? I think they are even, but they are in the negative, which means we are all ahead of them! Bean also gets a point.

Slider would ask us about the possibility of a female President. I didn’t reply then, and I’ll keep my mouth shut now as well. I’ll only get myself in trouble, anybody else feel this way? O. Deus would introduce us to ENTERPRISE’s newest cast member, from a planet called Melmack. O. Deus gets major points for creativity, you are now firmly in the lead.

Tuesday would arrive with me bored and asking for your series and movies rankings. This was just a cheap way for me to get a lot of responses. I still give myself a point though. BTW, there are those out there that actually liked Star Trek V, and Insurrection. Some nerve those people have.

Mr. Hippo would talk a little Smallville, and get some interesting responses. He would still manage to get in a bashing of ENTERPRSE though, so he gets a slight edge for creatively doing his favorite thing. Cap’n D would ask if we were afraid of Female Breasts? Apparently the Cap’n would like to see them on TV, can you believe that guy? He gets a point for managing to get us talking about porn. I can’t fault the guy for that.

On Wednesday I would again start things off asking if Nemesis would be TNG’s last? Nobody had an answer, but the discussion is always entertaining, I even make one of the dumbest statements ever. So go and check it out.

The rest of Wednesday and Thursday morning would be spent in post ENTERPRISE bliss talking about ‘Shadows of P’Jem’. I thought it was excellent and so did many others. Whatever happened to Vulcans not lying though? T’Pol lies like a dog in this one. But we will excuse it because…. Mmmmm T’Pol…….

Then a string of events that would end up with me, Trips McCoy, as the Enterprise’s captain would be set in place by Ensign-Ro-You-Boat, so he gets a point for that. Archer gets thrown out and Ro asks us if Trip should be captain. It was a resounding NO. As was Panem_et_Circensec asking if Reed should be captain, as was allgee asking if Mayweather should be captain, well you get the point. Porthos was getting some yes answers, but I gave him a doggie bone and he jumped out of the captain’s chair, and I’m all you've got. Then again, I’ll subtract a point from the Ensign for starting this mess in the first place.

That brings us squarely to Thursday with EntFan! (I didn’t think he would make another appearance here) who would get us going with rumors of Borg, and Cardassians and asking us our First Memories of Trek. Now while he got slammed for saying writing wasn’t really a concern to him (what would a show be without writing? Just a bunch of people walking around?) in the first post, it was nothing but free love in the second. People shared their first memories of TREK and I could feel the love, couldn’t you?

That brought us to a Friday that started off very slow. Our fearless leader Steve Krutzler would tell us about the Dolphins and Star Trek (something I hope he doesn’t do very often LOL). Then we would look down and see a young Defiantlad asking me a question about Trek and DS9 (my first appearance in the name of a post). So perhaps I should take another look at DS9, or maybe that’s pushing it. Who knows after another few Mai Tai’s anything can happen.

So Hippo and Ro would turn and ask, who had the better week. While Hippo had the most replies, most of them were his. Ro had the most posts again, by only one. So it looks like they both had good weeks, but who am I to judge.

That wraps up another TrekWeb BBS update. I hope you enjoyed it. Any similarity to real persons or events is purely coincidental. If you have feedback, as always, it is welcome. Have a good weekend and here’s to another great week!

    Trips

BTW- Next week’s update will either be up Thursday (I will try), or not until Sunday night/Monday morning. I am going on a little road trip with some friends and we leave Friday morning. I’ll still be watching though.
