Scott Bakula continued his rounds of the New York-based television talk shows today with an appearance on 'The Rosie O'Donnell Show'. The ten minute, ten second clip features a clip from [presumeably] tomorrow night's "Shuttlepod One," featuring Archer and T'Pol debating the existence of something called a "micro-singularity." Archer says they are "a Vulcan myth" but T'Pol seems convinced that they may have detected some; Archer comments that "if Vulcans had their way, they'd would blame them [micro-singularities] for the common cold."
Bakula begins the interview by presenting Rosie with a prototype of his new Captain Archer action figure. Rosie comments that figure stands with "the captain look" and Bakula seems to mimic the toy by standing up for a moment. The actor, however, had "no clue" when to expect the toy in stores (August --ed.).
The conversation roams from the previous guest -- Janet Jackson -- to last night's Olympics coverage, about which Scott comments that he participates in various winter sports including skiing and snowboarding. Apparently the actor attended the same high school as Rosie's band leader, John, and he does a moderately-believeable Scottish accent impression.
Moving to TREK fandom, Scott reinforces that he was big fan of the original series as well as covering some of the basics of the ENTERPRISE premise for newcomers. The "worst" day he's had so far was apparently 18 hours in length, much better than his 'Quantum' days.
The conversation turns to Scott and Rosie's children before quite possibly the highlight of the appearance -- Rosie pulls out an old 'Canada Dry' commercial that the actor starred in. The humorous clip features Scott in a tuxedo taking a swig of the soft drink in a lounge and then crooning (with accompanying choregraphy) a jingle for the product.
