TV Guide Online has posted some remarks of Trek legend William Shatner about the tragic death three years ago of his third wife and his attempts to repair the rift between himself and some of the TOS cast members. The full interview, with TV Guide senior writer Mary Murphy, will appear in an upcoming print edition of the TV Guide magazine.
On the death of his third wife, Nerine, who he found at the bottom of their swimming pool, "I came from the depths of despair. I came from a strong feeling that life was not really good enough to stay with it. I would have been happy to die. I may very well have been thinking of, contemplating ways to help that along."
On trying to contact his fellow TOS cast members James Doohan, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei and Walter Koenig to repair their reported rift, "With the exception of Nichelle, they didn't want to talk to me about it. They said that's all water under the bridge... Maybe I'm brusque. But is brusque worth a vendetta for all these years when we're all going to die very soon?"
