Upcomingmovies speculates today that the release date for the tenth STAR TREK motion picture, NEMESIS, may have been unofficially pushed back to December 20th of this year from the previously-reported November 22nd. While neither date has ever been officially confirmed by Paramount officials, the 22nd of November, also the release date of 1996's FIRST CONTACT, had been bandied about by several journalistic outlets in interview features about the film over recent months.
In a recent Star Trek: Communicator interview with producer Rick Berman (transcribed by TrekWeb here), the producer was unwilling to name a release date for the film, saying "I keep reading about other movies - whether it's James Bond or Harry Potter or the next Lord of the Rings - I keep reading about movies that are opening around Thanksgiving or Christmas. As to when the studio is going to release this film is hard to say."
December 20th is just two days after the next LORD OF THE RINGS film -- THE TWO TOWERS -- is set to debut in U.S. theaters, but November 22nd is home to the untitled 20th JAMES BOND feature, the third 'Hannibal Lecter' film RED DRAGON, and CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND. None of this has been confirmed, however, and the official release date remains conjecture.
