    Dept: Star Trek BBS Update

Well there are interesting weeks at the STAR TREK BBS and then there are interesting weeks. This was an interesting week. If you have never posted here before, you need to start, so go and register here. Otherwise, you aren?t really going to have a clue what I am talking about.

Let?s take a deep breath on this Be Happy Friday, start with last Saturday and work our way up to today (Friday). Everybody got his or her pen and paper? OK, ready? Let?s roll!

Saturday started with CYMRO debating the pros and cons of cannabis (a fancy word for weed). We all know this was a thinly veiled attempt to talk about weed, which you really shouldn?t bring up unless you have enough for everybody. Hey, see that thread over there? You can put your weed in there?

Sunday got it on with Mr. Hippo wanting to know what we were all reading. People were reading a lot of books that I?ve never heard of. Am I the only one?

Monday had a great post by???..ahh, who am I kidding? Who votes we just skip to Wednesday where all the action really was? There is this underlying tension in the update and I feel we really just need to go ahead and address it. Sorry to all of you Monday and Tuesday posters, but here comes Wednesday.

It would start off innocently enough with prometheus59650 stating that most Muslims believe Arabs not responsible for 9/11. Now, normally this would have been enough to spark a lengthy debate and long thread. But, as we shall soon see, this thread got lost, because?.

ThunderLove (TL) brought up the Day After??Damage Control. Now this is simple enough. I mean, we see attacks on B&B here all the time. Hell, I even like some of them. But if you look closely in this thread, you will see what started two days of banter back and forth between most of the board. It was really quite a sight! What did it set in motion? Most of you already know. Now this is where it really picks steam, so try and keep up.

Ro would finally give up and tell Mr. Hippo that he finally won. The Hippo bashing thread would officially be our SuperThread of the week, with 150 replies at the time of this update. Ro would announce that he is resigning from TrekWeb. Outpouring of support would follow but somehow an argument still broke out. Ro and Hippo couldn?t agree on who was here first. It?s kind of like the chicken and the egg.

Smoking Astonaut would explain a little further that Ro was having personal problems, thus the reason for leaving. Nanotechusa would call us a bunch of crybabies (post has been removed, not by me though). All this post made me do was wonder who was really being a crybaby? BTW, what constitutes a cry baby? If you cry, are you automatically a crybaby? Just some food for thought. EntFan! Would thank Ro for everything and promptly get his post deleted as well. I?m not sure why, but I?m with you on this one EntFan!.

Moving on to bigger and better things the usual string of reviews for the new ENTERPRISE episode poured in for "Fusion." Most people here liked it. But, scientifically speaking, there is no accounting for taste. Thursday also brought out a call for Survivor lovers by Cujo. The superhot Sarah was his pick to win it all. I decided I would take Tammy. Cujo and I now have a bet running. We need ideas for a wager, so let us hear them. You can do that by going to the post or replying here to my story. Try and make the loser as embarrassed as possible. I know that is hard with a message board and all, but I know you guys can be creative.

Lastly TL would proclaim Sub Rosa the worst hour of Trek ever.. I would argue that it has 7 years of VOYAGER to beat out but hey, I guess maybe they had one episode better than TNG. I think personally it wasn?t that bad. I mean we hadn?t seen a Trek Ghost Story before, had we?

Well that brings us to the close of another Weekly Update. We probably won?t see another week like this for a while, so cherish it. This week's winner for 'signature of the week' goes to one I have always found hilarious, but forget about sometimes. It?s an oldy but a goody, so enjoy:

"The weak and the cowardly have no place in shuffleboard." --Phil Hartman ("Worf," SNL)

    Have a great week everybody!
