Today's print edition of USA Today has reported the final Nielsen ratings for the week of February 25-March 3, including those for the first-run presentation of the ENT episode "Fusion" on Wednesday, February 27. According to this report, "Fusion" recorded the lowest ratings for a first-run presentation of ENT in its inaugural season, scoring a 3.0/5 watched by only 4.5 million viewers. The 4.5 million viewers for "Fusion" represents a 64% drop in viewers since the premiere episode of ENT, "Broken Bow", last September.
For the first time this season, ENT fell behind its UPN sister series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" for the week, falling to 5th place among all science fiction/fantasy genre network series and only marginally beating out The WB's Buffy-spinoff series "Angel." ABC's "Alias" and FOX's "The X-Files" returned from their Olympic lay-off to secure the top 2 spots for the week. UPN and The WB finished in a tie for 5th place for the week.
