Dept: Star Trek BBS Update
Well it’s finally Monday. I wait all week for Mondays, I just love ‘em. Actually I really wish we could just skip Monday and go on over to Tuesday, I’m sure you all know how I feel. Before I get started I have to give out a huge BOOMER SOONER to my Basketball team for making it to the Final Four. Watch out National Championship here we come. Maryland, Kansas, and Indiana beware.
Now back to things Trek, or at least the BBS, which isn’t always Trek related. If you haven’t checked it out recently you need to hop on over to the STAR TREK BBS. If you’ve never signed up you do that simply by clicking here. The Trekweb has been a rockin’ so don’t bother knockin’ folks, just click on in. Without further ado, lets get this party started.
Last Tuesday saw frogs_have_warts start a game of Star Trek Survivor. My guess from a quick overlook of the votes is that Janeway is a goner. But you never know he could just be showing us the votes he wants us to see, and Picard could come out of nowhere and get voted off. Noticeably absent from the proceedings were the token gay man (how about a friggin lesbian for once?) and the angry black man. I can’t think of anybody from Trek to fill those rolls, so perhaps this isn’t really a traditional Survivor.
Wednesday would bring the traditional reviews of the new ENTERPRISE episode Rogue Planet. pkeet had more questions than answers about it, and Brikar apparently had all the answers. compupc1 was impressed to learn that both Archer and Reed were Eagle Scouts, thereby solidifying them as not cool.
Thursday saw the unveiling of the Nemesis Logo and Beckett wanted to debate about it. I learned a lot about the two planets in the birds grasp, lets just say that. The Romulans look like they might kick some major ass come big screen time. The logo does look pretty cool.
Also on Thursday radar would ask the question is ENTERPRISE a failed Enterprise? To properly answer the question of whether or not it is a failure, one really needs to examine ENTERPRISE’s goals. So lets take an inside peak at TPTB’s goals for ENTERPRISE. This is an exclusive to TrekWeb folks; remember you saw it here first.
1. To have a fifth Trek Series: Accomplished.
2. To last more than the first episode: Accomplished.
3. To have more than one person watch: Accomplished.
4. To not suck really, really, really, bad: Accomplished.
5. To break continuity whenever possible: Accomplished.
So you see ENTERPRISE is clearly not a failure. They have accomplished all the goals that they set out to do from day one. So it must be time to close up shop on ENTERPRISE as a complete success.
On Friday our fearless leader Steve Krutzler would ask if we were in an alternaverse, because the poll for Rogue Planet was not so far into the stratosphere. People actually started voting for real and the number suffered. It is amazing that such a successful show can have such low poll numbers.
Today would ring in with the Oscar Buzz of who won and who didn’t. Siroth would blow off some steam that The Lord of The Rings got shafted. Apparently Sir Ian McKellen is used to getting the shaft, but Siroth still wasn’t happy about it. Star Trek Universe was very pleased with the Academy’s very PC choices of Halle Berry and Denzel Washington for Best Actress and Best Actor. I did get to see Denzel in Training Day and would have to say he was awesome in it, very entertaining. I haven’t had the opportunity to see Halle in Monster’s Ball yet, but I thought she did outstanding work in Swordfish. Anybody else, or is it just me?
That brings to close another glorious BBS update. I had a hard time picking this week’s winner for the signature of the week, but without further ado, here it is:
"Remember: weather you're White, Black, Brown or Pakistani, we all come from one place...da Punani" - Ali G (AAAAAAI!)
There you go Cymro you asked for it now you’ve got it. As for the rest of you I would really like to see some more creative sigs this week.
That is all.
