Piller Says Hall Fills Walken's Shoes Wonderfully, Hints at DEAD ZONE Villain |

In comments today with Sci-Fi Wire, Michael Piller says actor Anthony Michael Hall is sure to blow audiences away when he assumes the role of 'Johnny Smith', first realized by actor Christopher Walken on the silver screen, in this summer's THE DEAD ZONE.
"I thought the ultimate way we would succeed with the fans was to find someone who could really fill [his] shoes. I think Anthony Michael Hall is just going to blow you out of your chair, because you've never seen him like this. Whatever you remember Hall as, it's going to change your total opinion when you see him in this role," Piller promises.
The executive producer also mentions the original villain from Stephen King's book, politician 'Greg Stillson', who may show up in the USA Network series's freshman season.
"It's been our plan from the beginning to bring Stillson into the story somewhere towards the end of the first season, introduced through the Purdy character [Michael Moriarty], who is a political activist in his church work," Piller said. "It's a question of when. It will obviously be a special episode. It might end the season," he postulates.
For the rest of the interview, check out this page. THE DEAD ZONE premieres on USA Network June 16th.
