Maxim Online just posted the transcript of an exclusive interview with William Shatner. Here are some excerpts.
What's the strangest encounter with a Trekkie you've ever had ?
Shatner : "I was onstage in front of a group of Star Trek people - being marvelously entertaining, I thought - and this guy rushed downm the aisle and threw an apple pie at me. I dodged in the nick of time, being hit only by the ice cream center. The security people jumped on the guy, but I thought it would be a great idea to get him up onstage and interview him. Unfortunately, the guy was so worked up he was completely inarticulate. He couldn't speak, so he threw up."
Are foreign Trekkies weirder than domestic Trekkies ?
Shatner : "Foreign Trekkies acquired the Star Trek bug later than the domestic variety. The domestic is slowly buiding up a resistance to the virus, but we haven't yet inoculated the foreign Trekkies."
How lucrative is an appearance at a Star Trek convention ?
Shatner : ""Lucrative" is a malleable term. If someone's working for five dollars an hour, the fee I'm paid for convention is beyond the pale. But if you're a $20-million-a-movie actor, it's chicken feed."
How would you rate the latest ENT episode, VOX SOLA, on a scale from 1 (bad) to 10 (excellent) in comparison to the best and the worst episodes of the previous Star Trek television series?
