Star of Michael Piller's upcoming television series THE DEAD ZONE, Anthony Michael Hall, speaks to Sci-Fi Wire today about the series premiering June 16th on USA.

"I really responded to Stephen King and [to] the film," he told the online 'zine.

The interview reveals that the political aspects of the book have been toned down in the forthcoming series.

We take the same setting," Hall said. "You know, Stephen King writes a lot of his books that are set in Maine. ... And we took some of the key characters. The [Sheriff] Bannerman character, the Sarah character, who was his high school sweetheart. The fact that he's a high school teacher is very important. It's also really interesting to play as an actor. I'm in my 30s now, and I started as a teenager. And for me to be playing a guy who's teaching teenagers, it's interesting. I was challenging myself. So we took the sort of core characters, and we're really expanding on it from there," the actor says of the reworking.

Hall stars with DS9's Nicole de Boer in THE DEAD ZONE. For the original story, check out this page.
