In his latest insider update at TheDeadZone.net, executive producer Michael Piller reveals minor details about upcoming episodes by former TREK writers Joe Menosky and Michael Taylor. The former's, "Enigma," involves the show's protagonist, Johnny, being called for Jury duty; while Taylor's script involves a love affair with a woman in one of Johnny's visions from the past.
In addition to discussing the casting of Menosky's episode with casting director Eric Dawson (husband of VOYAGER's Roxann Dawson), Piller introduces the DEAD ZONE scriptwriter's guide. While the series cannot accept unsolicited scripts or story ideas, Piller stresses that this inside look into the series bible will help viewers understand the series better.
"We believe one of the most crucial elements of success, and one of King’s signatures, is a continuing sense of lurking danger. There should be a driving tension throughout each episode. We feel there is a power to the combination of idyllic New England life and the strange supernatural underpinnings of Johnny’s experience."
The guide covers some hypothetical "dos" and "don'ts" for story ideas as well as summaries of the regular and recurring characters and some of the overarching character themes that will be explored in the series' first season.
