Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced
players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the
turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses,
bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near
the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original
Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS
Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all
interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is
superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we
will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices,
check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away
from home. (0 comments | Add)

STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION's Season Three DVD Gift Set hits the street in eleven days and the first reviews are in. Housing some of the series' finest moments, from "Yesterday's Enterprise" to "Best of Both Worlds," season three may be the year many fans decide to start collecting these new DVD sets.
DVD File says the set is an improvement upon the first two seasons, with the 4:3 aspect ratio video suffering more from the still-modest production values of the series in this third year than from a poor transfer.
"Many of the effects scenes still look edgy and less detailed, but the film sequences are brighter, crisper and, well, more film-like," says reviewer Peter M. Bracke.
The sound is also adequate this time around, with 5.1 dolby digital surround tracks letting them well-recorded source material ring through even if only presenting a few rear-speaker fly-by effects: "These remixes lean towards the fronts, with the dialogue and score primarily confined to the front three speakers, with only some nice flyover and ship "whooshes" nicely spread out to the rears."
The supplemental materials are where the real gems lie, with four all new featurettes finally delivering more new material than recycled interview and behind-the-scenes footage.
"These may be the best yet, as the cast interviews are all new, recorded late last year on the set of the upcoming big-screen Trek adventure Nemesis... Slickly produced as always, the inclusion of the new interview footage makes this a cut above previous season featurettes."
The "Departmental Briefings: Production" featurette also includes looks at Dan Curry's effects for season three and Jay Chattaway's scoring sessions. Bracke calls season three a must-have for TNG fans. You can reach the rest of his review here. Look for TrekWeb's own review next week, and if you'd like to pre-order your copy of the set, please considering helping this site by using the image link above.
