Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses, bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices, check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away from home.

The official STAR TREK web site has posted its promised interview with STAR TREK II director Nicholas Meyer, and true to form, the engimatic artist explains his decisions to leave many answers about the classic TREK film -- arriving today in U.S. stores on Director's Edition DVD -- well, unanswered.

"We live in a culture which has sort of a talk-show mentality. There is great temptation to ask the artist for definitive answers, as though you are looking at a book of math equations with the answers in the back," he told the site. "I cannot and will not pretend to give you answers that could be construed, or misconstrued, as definitive."

Meyer says much like a message in a bottle, the artist won't be there for the recipient to interpret the meaning for them. As in the audio commentary, he points to the oft-asked question of 'why does Khan wear only ONE glove?'

"Why do YOU think he has one glove? I'm not going to answer that question, because what I give you is not an answer; it is just speculation, and I've got to get in line with everybody else."

He also addresses the reinsertion of the Peter Preston-as-Scotty's-nephew scenes, saying watching the movie without them made no sense.

"I just remember that the scenes with Scotty now made no sense — why does he carry one guy up in an elevator? What is that about," he says.

Meyer also recounts the story (also recollected on the DVD) of how he wrote the script for STAR TREK II but didn't get a writing credit because he had to write it under a deadline for the effects team at Industrial Light & Magic before a contrat to write had been struck. Meyer ended up taking elements from five different scripts and melding them into what eventually became KHAN.

"I've regretted this ever since, but at the time I didn't see another way around — I said, forget my deal, forget the money, forget the credit, because if I don't do this there is no movie. Just worry about my directing part and we'll let the rest take care of itself."

Meyer says he's happy with the original film -- and his new director's cut.

"I'm very happy that the movie resides in the affectionate embrace of so many people. I just feel lucky and proud to have been associated with it."
