Pre-order the NEMESIS soundtrack to support TrekWeb! (0 comments | Add)
Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced
players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the
turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses,
bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near
the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original
Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS
Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all
interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is
superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we
will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices,
check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away
from home. (0 comments | Add)

In the new November issue of Star Trek: The Magazine, ENTERPRISE co-creator and executive producer Brannon Braga talks about the genesis of this week's episode, "Carbon Creek," and hints at the show's use of the Romulans beginning in next week's "Minefield."
"[Carbon Creek] was actually pitched to me by Dan O'Shannon, who is an executive producer and head writer on 'Frasier'," Braga recalled. "Dan and I are very good friends and he works at Paramount of course, and he loves the show. I talked to Rick [Berman] about it and we both loved the idea, but we kind of felt it was too off concept to do in the first season, we thought we should maybe hold on to it. So we did, but we did it right away in the second season."
He says the original series episode "City on the Edge of Forever" offered some subtle inspiration for the episode.
"We thought about that show when we were trying to figure out how to get these Vulcans into different cloths, and we took some of our cues from the original series."
Brannon also speaks about the Romulans, favorite STAR TREK villains who make their first appearance--of sorts--in next week's "Minefield."
"We see their cool ships, but we never see the Romulans," he says. "I think it's cool that on NEMESIS you can see the Romulans of Picard's time, and at the same time you're seeing the early encounters with them on ENTERPRISE; there's great synergy there."
The exec also admits that he'd like to avoid going back to the TNG-era well for alien encounters this season.
"I think you've got to be real careful about going back to the old guys too much, because it looks like you're desperate. I did like the Ferengi show, but I'm in no rush to see them again. I've always had mixed feelings about the Ferengi because they're so broad, and we have no immediate plans for them."
As far as what other aliens we might see this season, Braga hints that another original series race--mentioned in "Carbon Creek"--just might show up: the Tellarites.
"Well, if we do see them you can be sure that we'll do to them what we did to the Andorians, which was to modernize them and make them more believable," he says of the TOS aliens with pig-like makeup. "I wouldn't be surprised if the pig guys showed up! But I don't want to just throw them in there for the sake of it. It would be great if they had some reason to be there, like the Adorian show, which really worked out well."
