Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced
players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the
turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses,
bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near
the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original
Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS
Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all
interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is
superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we
will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices,
check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away
from home. (0 comments | Add)

Today's print edition of USA
Today has published the final ratings for the week of September
30-October 6. The much-anticipated appearance of the Romulans on
ENTERPRISE in the episode "Minefield" served to stem the tide,
pushing
the number of viewers up to 5.2 million and propelling ENT into 5th
place for
the week with a 3.5/6 rating and share. This represents the highest rating number for the series since last February's "Shadows of P'Jem" (3.8/6/6.06 million viewers), helping the newest TREK leapfrog over UPN sister series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Fox's Joss Whedon series Firefly.
For the week, the number one through four slots remained the same
with
Alias maintaining its top dog status, followed by The WB's Smallville,
FOX's
new series John Doe and The WB's surprisingly resurgent Charmed. The
WB's
premiere of Angel in its new Sunday night slot garnered its seeming
reliable
4 1/2 million plus audience and served to push UPN's Haunted out of the
Top
10 all together; a show USA Today describes as a "disappointment" for
UPN
"which hasn't clicked with Buffy viewers" in its "TV's fast starters
and slow
rollers" column by Gary Levin, also available in today's print edition.
Given
the potentially suicidal move to Sunday night and Charmed's strong
performance on the same night for the last 3 weeks, The WB should be
pleased
with a stable - though not blockbuster - Sunday night lineup.
Overall, for the week, UPN once again finished in last place with an
average number of 4.1 million viewers, behind The WB's average of 5.0
million. CBS edged out NBC for first place with 13.3 million average
viewers
compared to 12.6 million.
The stratification of the audience numbers emerging early in this
season
is interesting with ABC's Alias, The WB's Smallville and FOX's John Doe
clearly forming a top tier of shows, though with some indications that
John
Doe made be drifting downward into the solid core of second tier shows
which
includes The WB's Charmed and Angel, UPN's Enterprise and Buffy the
Vampire
Slayer, FOX's Firefly and ABC's Push, Nevada. UPN's The Twilight Zone
and
Haunted clearly form the bottom tier of shows and it seems unlikely
that
either will avoid the ax for too long. There also appears to be some
evidence
that ABC's Push, Nevada is drifting downward into this bottom tier of
shows,
which is probably not good news. USA Today also identifies Push, Nevada
as a
"disappointment" for ABC.
In Gary Levin's "TV's fast starters and slow rollers" column in
today's
edition of USA Today, several comments are made about science fiction
genre
network series. In addition to citing UPN's Haunted and ABC's Push,
Nevada as
disappointments, Levin also cites Joss Whedon's Firefly as a
disappointment
for FOX, saying "the futuristic Western from Buffy's creator looks like
a
tough sell." Levin also comments that UPN is "suffering huge declines
by
Enterprise and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and) a Twlight Zone remake
isn't
helping." On the flip side, Levin comments that "early returns are
positive"
FOX's John Doe, he describes The WB's Smallville as "fast-growing"
while
"moving Charmed and Angel to Sundays has improved that night too."
Top Ranked Science Fiction/Fantasy Network Series
September 30-October 6 (based on number of viewers)
1) Alias (ABC) - 5.7/8 (9.7 million)
2) Smallville (WB) - 4.8/7 (8.1 million)
3) John Doe (FOX) - 4.1/7 (6.6 million)
4) Charmed (WB) - 3.1/5 (5.3 million)
5) Enterprise (UPN) - 3.5/6 (5.2 million)
6) Buffy the Vampire Slayer (UPN) - 3.1/5 (5.0 million)
7) Firefly (FOX) - 3.3/6 (4.9 million)
8) Angel (WB) - 2.8/4 (4.6 million)
9) Push, Nevada (ABC) - 3.2/5 (4.4. million)
10) The Twilight Zone (UPN) - 2.6/4 ( 3.9 million)
Meanwhile, the NY Daily News has documented two industry analysts saying that UPN's new season has been disappointing, with performance in its 18-34 demographic "getting clobbered" and attributable to poor showings of ENTERPRISE and BUFFY. Check out that article here.
