Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced
players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the
turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses,
bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near
the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original
Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS
Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all
interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is
superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we
will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices,
check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away
from home. (0 comments | Add)

Ever since the critically-acclaimed STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE - The Director's Edition DVD his shelves last November, speculation has swarmed about the possibility of a similar treatment being done to other installments in the film series. Perhaps no other film is regarded as "in need" of the type of enhancements utilized in TMP than William Shatner's STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER.
As many fans know, the film was plagued by various problems in both script and production and Shatner, who directed the film, told TrekWeb in an interview last November that he simply ran out of money after making what he viewed in retrospect as an unacceptable compromise on the script for the film. At that time, Shatner indicated that Paramount had expressed no interest in revisiting ST5 for DVD release and that the experience might not even appeal to him since there simply might not be enough material lying in the vaults with which to tackle such a project.
Sources today suggest that all this may be in the past as the success of the TMP:DE DVD and subsequent ST2: TWOK DE may have rekindled interest in a retooled STAR TREK V. Paramount reportedly has renewed interest in the project and Shatner himself may have had a change of heart, with discussions currently underway and decisions imminent. This information remains unconfirmed at this point, however, and should be treated as rumor.
Many have expressed a desire to see revamped visual effects technology used to re-imagine original storyboarded sequences for the film, including a segment toward the end of the film involving rock creatures, as well as improve the perceived poor effects work in the film. Reimagining STAR TREK V could be a tall order, however, with many of its problems arguably residing in the script and few if any deleted scenes awaiting retreatment for a director's edition DVD.
