Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced
players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the
turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses,
bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near
the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original
Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS
Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all
interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is
superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we
will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices,
check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away
from home. (0 comments | Add)

Dept: Star Trek: Nemesis
In the new issue of Britain's Star Trek Monthly, both screenwriter John Logan and producer Rick Berman weigh in on the tenth big screen TREK adventure, set to hit U.S. theaters a month from now. Logan talks about developing the initial idea for the film and his early pitch sessions with Berman:
"I said, 'I know who the villains are - the Remans, Romulus and Remus! It's the shot of the bird of prey with the two planets - there's Romulus and there's Remus. We've never seen Remus, we don't know what Remus is, let's use Remus'," the A-list Hollywood writer recalled for the magazine (excerpts via TrekGalaxy). "He loved that idea, once he knew what it was. So I'm really proud that I was able to go into the Trek mythology and add a part about what the Romulan Empire is."
Logan says the movie may have a lot of action in places, but his script came down to risk-taking with the characters and writing an emotional story. "Rick was shocked when with my first pitch I said, 'I think this thing has one exterior action sequence, and everything else is on ships or on planets. I think it's a very tightly contained story about the individual characters we're choosing to play with'," he says. "I guess finally, specifically in terms of Trek, I think the smartest thing that was ever done in a Trek film was when Nick Meyer gave Captain Kirk glasses in Star Trek II and said, 'These characters are not just stuck in that world that we're so used to from the TV show.'"
As for the "final journey" question, Logan says he tried to write NEMESIS with enormous respect for the STAR TREK franchise and sincerely hopes an eleventh film is on the horizon. "I'm a fan and I'd like to write Star Trek XI. But I think maybe because I'm a fan and I respect the characters and the world so much, I believe I treated them with dignity and with a certain nobility about recognising that perhaps this is the end of this particular story. And if that is the case, I would be saddened, but I believe we do it with panache and with grace."
Also in this issue, Rick Berman gives the most up-to-date status report on the film yet: "Nemesis is done and finished and locked up," he says. "We screened the completed, mixed answer print last week for the studio, and they could not be more pleased. Veteran Star Trek composer Jerry Goldsmith did a remarkable score, and so we're finished. Digital Domain has done more than 500 opticals for us. We have more opticals in Nemesis that we've had in any other Star Trek movie, 30 to 40 percent more. You don't get to see everything until the very end because you're still finalising things, but when all is said and done, the work they did is extraordinary."
