The United Kingdom's Star Trek Monthly spoke with ENTERPRISE actress Linda Park for its 98th issue, now available, and Sci-Fi Pulse has several excerpts in which Park expresses her hopes for the fledgling 'Hoshi Sato'.

"What you saw at the beginning of the first season, in the pilot especially, was a character who was nervous about going out in space,” Park explained in the mag. “I thought that was a realistic an unexplored place to start. Most of the characters in the ‘Star Trek’ shows are used to space travel. They’re so calm and collected, and Hoshi wasn’t calm and collected. I thought it was a smart move to have Hoshi there as a character that was very human and that could be a foil to T’pol and the more action oriented characters like Trip and the Captain."

Park says she's glad the Enterprise communications officer has grown her spacelegs over the last several months: "I'm happy with where they took her during the rest of season one and now into season two," the young actress says. "She took an active interest in weapons training. She’s volunteering to go into hostile situations. I think they’ve done a really good job of developing her slowly, so that there are places for her to go, and now I’m ready to tackle new obstacles for her to overcome."

Park says she hopes the writers have an episode similar to "Shuttlepod One" in store for Hoshi: "I’d love to see something around those lines for Hoshi, where it’s mostly character driven and you find out where she’s from, what she did before, and what she’s like beyond what we already know."

As for the rest of her STAR TREK career, the actress says she's finally getting accustomed to life as part of a weekly television drama and she hopes to follow in the footsteps of other TREK cast members: "Fortunately ‘Star Trek’ is such a wonderful environment for an actor to learn every aspect of acting in front of a camera and to learn all the technical aspects as well. So many actors who’ve been on the ‘Star Trek’ shows go on to direct, and that’s something I’d like to do too. But it took me a few episodes to get comfortable and confident with being on the set."
