Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced
players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the
turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses,
bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near
the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original
Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS

interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is
superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we

Dept: Star Trek: Nemesis
Speaking at the recent UK premiere of STAR TREK NEMESIS director Stuart Baird reiterated remarks that the upcoming DVD release of the film will include plenty of extra footage, but none of it reinserted into the film.
"I'll never cut them back into the movie because I don't think they make it work but I'll show them on the DVD because I think the fans will enjoy them," Baird told Empire Online.
The director did go into details of some of the scenes you can expect to see on the DVD, however. Beward of spoilers for the film if you have not yet seen it.
"One of the scenes that went was where we introduce Shinzon to the audience before Patrick Stewart sees him. But it didn't have a lot of information that we needed. It was a nice scene but it completely undermined this very dramatic and theatrical reveal when Patrick Stewart first meets him."
[...]
"There was a whole bunch of other scenes [at the end], which were jokey: saying goodbye to other people and a scene with the Captain's new chair and it just seemed superfluous."
Brent Spiner also told Empire of a touching final scene that was excised from the film, many would say, to its detriment.
"There was a scene that was cut from the movie after Data is… gone, shall we say. Worf and Geordi go into his room and Spot the cat is there. Worf ends up taking the cat and Geordi finds the emotion chip and keeps it."
Check out the original report here. Thanks to 'Defiant' for the link.

I want to first say that Star Trek: Nemesis was a dam good film!
BUT there are some DELEATED SCENES that need to be PUT BACK into the film!
I thought Stuard Baird was a good choice to direct this film. I wish he had never signed up!
IN MY OPINION 'stuart baird' IS THE WORST STAR TREK DIRECTOR WE HAVE HAD SO FAR.
TELL SB TO PUT THE SCENES IN THE MOVIE!

Drama and Characterizations Missing
By starparty

The director of Nemesis obviously needs a refresher course on some basic facts; namely that drama, characterizations, human emotion, and human interaction are what good stories and good films are made of! Special effects, battles, and crashes are exciting and even necessary elements, however, when you start chopping out the bits of human interaction that really connect an audience to a storyline or film, the audience will be lost. And this is the case with Nemesis - where, apparently, all sorts of scenes and character involvements were chopped out. The silliest part of this is that the movie may have been only 10 minutes longer or so with the material included, but it would have been so much richer.
This reminds me of the wonderful actor-writer-director Barry Morse who mischievously invented a little couplet when he was filming "Space:1999" - and his sentiment is rather fitting in this circumstance. Barry (as 'Prof. Bergman) was called upon in a script to deliver a rather long boring speech in front of a map, whereupon he became so annoyed that he wrote the following to the show's producers Gerry & Sylvia Anderson: The couplet read: “Dear Gerry & Sylvia - Please remember, Geography is about Maps. Drama is about Chaps.”
That's the bottom line. Drama is about people and when the people become less important than the starship crashes, fights, and special effects, then you end up with mediocre product.

Make the fans happy

Let me begin by writing that I enjoyed Nemesis. With that written, I do think that the movie was missing at least a few key scenes. From what I've read here and elsewhere, this is sadly the case. Despite making a good movie, Baird evidently did not have Trekkers in mind when he edited Nemesis. This would explain his axing many of the movies last scenes, scenes that Trekkers would have loved. Such as seeing what was left of the crew say goodbye, seeing the new Enterprise crew members come aboard, and having that much more closure with Data's death. It would have been very cool to have it explained why Data did not show emotions during this movie (he'd simply taken his emotion chip out...since it had survived Data, perhaps we fans could hope that one day it could be placed in B-4, thus furthering the creation of a new Data) and what happened to his cat (awsome that of all people, Worf would take Spot. How cool would that have been?). Since Baird, probably under pressure from the powers that be at Paramount, hacked Nememsis' apart, the least he can do is make us Trekkers happy and splice the lost scenes into the DVD release. What good are they lumped together after the movie? That wouldn't make it official Trek anyway...only what is included in the movie can be assumed to have really happened in the Trek universe.

The beginning of the end?

Well, according to reports, Nemesis appears to only have taken in another 4.4 Million this weekend making the total after 2 weeks a measly 26.5 million dollars and leaving the movie in 9th place.
I enjoyed the movie. It seemed more like an episode than a movie. Though my gripe certainly isn't with the writing or acting. I think the story was very compelling. Directing killed the film. And reading Baird's comments here I can only further agree that he had no clue.
I think the Next Gen cast has seen it's last film. Partly why this movie may have felt like another episode is that we've seen so much of this cast. 7 Years and this being their 4th feature film. Not to mention every TV show since has had the same "feel". What made the original casts movies so compelling was they were were only on the air for 3 years, and only 2 movies were made while another series was ongoing. Not to mention someone else was in charge of production.
I know what I like, but what I like may not be what someone else may like. Personally, and it's been mentioned elsewhere on this site, they need to bring back Kirk. Maybe have Meyer and Logan pen it? What was great about Meyer was that while he came in, not knowing about Star Trek, he not only did his homework, but treated it as though it was a sea adventure. He had a vision and every movie he has been involved in, one way or another, has been received positively (2, 4 and 6).
I'm just venting right now. But whatever happens, I hope Paramount takes Nemesis' poor turnout and uses it to breathe new life into the franchise (ie remove B&B) as opposed to pulling th plug altogether. Star Trek has long made money for that company, it needs to be overhauled, not done away with.

Why The Panic Over Putting Scenes Back In???
By Gul Telly

Geez... Baird says his cut of the film wouldn't differ from the studio version, so the film shouldn't be re-edited with the deleted scenes put back in. That would be like Paramount adding scenes to "The Godfather" or FOX putting in new scenes to "Star Wars" without George Lucas's permission. Baird is satisfied with the release in theaters and at least he's determined to see the scenes show up on the disc. Now if he felt the film were incomplete, I'd understand it... but he doesn't, so why tamper with the film he's happy with? He might not be the majority, but he is the director of the picture.
Well... I'm probably gonna get my hiney flamed now.
Telly

Anyone started a petition yet to reinsert the scenes yet?

I know that it's the only way I'd buy it, the movie is just too shabby and incomplete without them and additional footage isn't good enough unless it's in the film itself. I mean if Goldmember can do it, why the hell can't Nemesis, especially as it's the best shot the DVD has of actually compensating for some of the film's losses.

HM. This guy is an ass. Many fans want the scenes in the film so what is the harm of putting them back in as an option on the DVD. Christ they could have an intern re insert them for free. I hope someone makes a fan edit once the DVD is released.

The more I hear about what was NOT in the film, the more I think that the powers that be who created Nemesis were reckless in what they chose to put in and what to take out. I enjoyed the movie, sure, but to leave out what they did is starting to make me think that it's dollars over sense with these people.
I mean, come on, we, the fans, made them who they are. We spend our money and they abuse our loyalty to no end.
And others are catching on too. I saw Nemesis in a Loews theater and a National Amusements theater. I saw two different trailers for "The Core". Would you believe that in one trailer a key character says he needs "Ninja tapes and Hot Pockets" to do his job. In the other trailer his voice was redubbed to say that he needs "Star Trek tapes and Hot Pockets". It might sound trite but I actually felt like the entertainment industry thinks that I am a) stupid enough to see that movie because Star Trek was mentioned in the trailer and b) I am an endless source of money to them - free to be milked away.
I'm getting sick of all this patronizing, anyone else? At least Enterprise is paid for by advertisers and not with anything other than my time.

"this very dramatic and theatrical reveal "
"I'll never cut them back into the movie because I don't think they make it work"
"There was a whole bunch of other scenes [at the end], which were jokey: saying goodbye to other people"
"Worf ends up taking the cat and Geordi finds the emotion chip and keeps it."
Sadly, this proves that Baird just never got Star Trek and that, despite all of the hopes with a new director, knowing Star Trek IS important to making....ah....Star Trek.
