The DEEP SPACE NINE novel re-launch series will continue in splendid fashion this April as author S. D. Perry's book UNITY. According to the latest issue of the STAR TREK: COMMUNICATOR, the plot of the hardcover novel will involve the return of Captain Sisko and the birth of his child, and the entry of Bajor into the Federation. Both threads were important in the series, and pick up where DS9 ended.
In the episode "Dogs of War" we learned that 'Kasidy Yates' was pregnant with Sisko's child, but in the series finale "What You Leave Behind" the captain joined the Prophets, promising to return one day. Bajor's entry into the Federation was the mission given to Sisko at the beginning of DS9 in "The Emissary." But in "Rapture" Sisko warned against its admittance, something that never came to pass before the series bowed in 1999.
UNITY continues the DS9 Re-launch series of novels that began with AVATAR 1 and 2 and continues through this month's RISING SON. You can pre-order the book from any of the following merchants to help support TrekWeb:

In other TREK book news, Pocket Books author and editor Keith R. A. DeCandido announced yesterday the upcoming publication of TALES OF THE DOMINION WAR, a new anthology, in the Star Trek Books Yahoo! Group. The book is currently scheduled for a summer 2004 paper back release and will chronicle the Dominion War -- featured in DEEP SPACE NINE -- from alternate perspectives and explore new stories that took place during the conflict. DeCandido will edit the collection and promises it will include stories for every part of the expansive franchise.
"TALES OF THE DOMINION WAR will endeavor to at least touch on =every= aspect
of the TREK universe, both televised and in prose form," DeCandido announced. "There are still many tales to be told [about the war].
Some of those were chronicled in the NEXT GENERATION books in the 1998
DOMINION WAR tetralogy by John Vornholt, the 2002 TNG novel THE BATTLE OF
BETAZED by Charlotte Douglas and Susan Kearney, and the 2002 eBooks STAR
TREK: S.C.E: WAR STORIES by yours truly.
"But that still leaves many other stories to tell. The fall of Betazed
(mentioned in "In the Pale Moonlight"). The Breen attack on Earth (briefly
seen in "The Changing Face of Evil"). What were the other characters in the
STAR TREK universe doing during the war? What about the Klingon and Romulan
POV? Or even the Jem'Hadar's?"
DeCandido also provided a tentative listing of the authors contributing to the volume:
- Greg Cox (THE EUGENICS WARS, THE Q CONTINUUM)
- Peter David (NEW FRONTIER, IMZADI)
- Keith R.A. DeCandido (THE BRAVE & THE BOLD, DIPLOMATIC IMPLAUSIBILITY)
- Michael Jan Friedman (STARGAZER, STARFLEET YEAR ONE)
- Dave Galanter (MAXIMUM WARP, AMBUSH)
- Robert Greenberger (DOORS INTO CHAOS, ENTERPRISE LOGS)
- Jeffrey Lang & Heather Jarman (IMMORTAL COIL, THIS GRAY SPIRIT)
- David Mack (STARFLEET SURVIVAL GUIDE, WILDFIRE)
- Andy Mangels & Michael A. Martin (ROGUE, CATHEDRAL)
- Josepha Sherman & Susan Shwartz (VULCAN'S FORGE, VULCAN'S HEART)
- Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore (INTERPHASE, FOUNDATIONS)
- Howard Weinstein (THE COVENANT OF THE CROWN, ENTER THE WOLVES)
DeCandidio is most recently the author of STAR TREK: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD (TrekWeb Review).

Wasn't that event the takeover of the Dominion in Bajoran space, with the returning of "locusts" being the Cardassians and Dominion. Had Bajor joined the Federation, Bajor wouldn't have been able to remain neutral during that time and would've been destroyed.

Berman said in a recent interview that Sisko could never be in a Star Trek movie because Sisko was killed in DS9.
Although I am impressed that he actually remembers the series and the character, I am less impressed with his belief that Sisko is dead.
It was never stated that Sisko died! Death = cease to exist. Anyone going in the wormhole could speak to Sisko if they chose to.
Just like their are an infinite amount of James T Kirk's in the nexus energy ribbon. Anyone entering the nexus at any time any place, will find Kirk in there.
